Mary Jean McFall named "Citizen of the Year"

On November 13, 2008, the Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce presented its award for Citizen of the Year to Mary Jean McFall. Mary Jean has always been an active member of the community serving on a variety of boards and committees.

She has served as chairman of the parent council of Lyn School and helped a local child literacy program, "Fun with Books". A director of the Employment and Education Centre for many years, Mary Jean currently sits as a director on the Hudson-Burnbrae Foundation and the Egg Farmers of Ontario boards.

As co-chairman of the Friends of TISS, along with former mayor Steve Clark, 1.2 million dollars was raised to fund the high school's new athletic track, an achievement which Mary Jean is extremely proud of.

Ms. McFall has been a member of the Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce since 2001 currently holding the position of first vice president. She shares the duties of fundraising co-chairman for the Brockville and Area YMCA annual giving campaign and sits on the Maritime Discovery Centre steering committee, working to make the planned tourism attraction a reality.
